      Least developed countries
(The least developed countries are those recognized by the
United Nations as low-income countries encountering long-
term impediments to economic growth, particularly low
levels of human resource development and severe structural
weaknesses. The main purpose of constructing a list of
such countries is to give guidance to donor agencies and
countries for allocation of foreign assistance.
 Human Development Report 1998.)
